Don’t Confuse Your Experience with Your Expertise

There is a real difference between these two.

Too many of us confuse the two, and they are not the same.

Experience simply marks the time we’ve been doing something, but it’s a bad gauge of how well we actually do it.

Expertise, on the other hand, is a far better gauge of our competency.  I have an entire chapter on this concept in my book Not Taught. It’s just too important to not be addressed.

In this short, I talk about the difference between the two and why expertise is far more important than experience.

Your experience does not reflect your expertise and if you want to accelerate your career, become more successful, and have more options, you need to be focusing on your expertise.

Be an expert, not experienced.
