I was at an AA battery factory in a very nondescript, windowless building in South Carolina 20 years ago. But yes, manufacturing still has the reputation of being dull, dangerous, and dirty, and it’s not something that a lot of people, unless they have someone close to them who knows differently, would consider out of the blue.
