The Unity Principle that Cialdini talks about is very similar to a persuasion principle mentioned in a book called The Age of Propaganda , (and before that in a 1992 NYT article ) under a slightly different name: The Granfalloon Technique. Politicians use the Granfalloon Technique all the time to try to appeal to voter segments.
